Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Celebrates Its 28th Annual A Time For Heroes Family Festival

The global leader in the fight to end AIDS in children fêted with celebrity hosts and a special performance

October 29, 2017 – LOS ANGELES, CA – The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) hosted its 28th annual A Time for Heroes family festival on October 29th at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. A Time for Heroes raises critical funds needed to end AIDS in children. Since its founding and the first festival 28 years ago, EGPAF has raised more than $35 million, including $500,000 this year, toward its goal of creating a world where no child has AIDS. Celebrity guests and supporters enjoyed delicious food from top local eateries, games for all ages, and high-energy entertainment.

The festivities kicked off at noon and included a day of fun for both celebrity attendees and Angeleno families. Guests enjoyed carnival activities, such as human bowling, rock climbing, live music, pumpkin painting, and more. The day was capped by an upbeat performance by band Ocean Park Standoff, helmed by Samantha Ronson, Pete Nappi and Ethan Thompson. Jake Glaser, Elizabeth’s son, reminded attendees that his mother believed that each one of us can be a hero and that we have an individual role in changing the world. EGPAF Ambassador Fortunata

Kasege also took the stage to share her personal story, along with Chip Lyons, President and CEO of the non-profit. Other notable celebrity attendees included Tori Spelling and her family, Gilles Marini, and Allison Sweeney amongst others. Pediatric HIV is highly preventable, yet 400 children are still infected with the virus every day. Today EGPAF supports close to 1 million people, including nearly 80,000 children, on life-saving medications.

Operating at over 5,000 sites in 19 countries around the world, EGPAF has reached more than 27 million pregnant women with services to block the transmission of HIV to their babies. This work has prevented nearly 350,000 HIV infections since 2004.
