Foundations partner to raise awareness about pediatric HIV/AIDS worldwide

Los Angeles, CA – The Magic Johnson Foundation (MJF) will join Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) as a partner at this year's 24th annual “A Time for Heroes” event.  Focused on educational empowerment, MJF works directly with underserved communities to provide vital resources and increase HIV/AIDS awareness. MJF will join with EGPAF to invite children and their families who are affected by HIV/AIDS to the event.

“As a longtime supporter of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, we are thrilled to team with them this year for their annual event,” said Amelia Williamson, President of the Magic Johnson Foundation. “At MJF, we work every day in communities to support families whose lives have been touched by HIV/AIDS. We are excited to be able to give them a day of pure fun and entertainment.

EGPAF’s “A Time for Heroes” event brings together families, celebrities, donors, and other supporters from across the country to prevent new HIV infections in babies, provide lifesaving treatments to HIV-positive mothers, and support pediatric AIDS research.

This year also marks EGPAF’s 25th anniversary of its groundbreaking work as a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS, and we are honored to be supported by artists such as:  UN AIDS Goodwill Ambassador Naomi Watts, two-time Grammy winner Melanie Fiona, Jamar Rogers (The Voice), Olivia Munn (The Newsroom), Holly Robinson Peete (Mike and Molly), Joe Manganiello (Spider-Man), Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, Disney star Garrett Clayton, Vanessa Lengies (Glee), and Greer Grammer (Awkward).

“We are honored to partner with the Magic Johnson Foundation for this year’s “A Time for Heroes” event,” said EGPAF President and CEO Charles Lyons. “The work they have done over the last two decades in the fight against AIDS is truly incredible and helps us reach our goal of an AIDS-free generation.”

The event will take place on June 2, 2013 at West Los Angeles, CA. EGPAF is calling on the community to “Join Us. Inspire Others.” and participate in becoming a hero for the mothers and children currently fighting HIV/AIDS worldwide.
