Ask Congress to Prioritize Saving Moms and Kids

Combatting global HIV and reducing preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths are intrinsically intertwined, especially in countries with a high HIV burden, in fact globally HIV is the leading cause of death in women of reproductive age.

Since 1990, nearly 100 million children around the world have been saved due to global efforts to reduce child mortality, and maternal deaths have been cut nearly in half. Programs funded through the U.S. Government have played a large role in that reduction. Yet still, each day, more than 17,000 children’s lives and nearly 800 mothers’ lives are lost due mostly to preventable causes. If you’re like us, you think this is unacceptable. .

EGPAF along with a diverse group of over 20 other non-profits are asking Congress to support H.R. 2706/ S. 1911: Reach Every Mother and Child Act of 2015. This important legislation ensures that maternal, newborn and child health programming remains a priority for the U.S. government, as well as opens the door to new and innovative financing mechanisms to fund this lifesaving work.

You can help… ask your Representative and Senators to co-sponsor this bill today and commit to ending preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths within a generation.
