Los Angeles has seen its share of heroes over the years – but none bigger than the friends and supporters of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation who gathered at the Wadsworth Theatre on Sunday, June 12 for the 22nd annual A Time For Heroes Celebrity Picnic sponsored by Disney. At this year’s safari-themed event, supporters and celebrity guests joined the Foundation to enjoy fun games and great food, and to support the Foundation’s mission to eliminate pediatric AIDS.
Upon arrival, attendees “stamped their passports to Africa” and embarked on a fun-filled journey as celebrity heroes volunteered at various activities and attractions – and raised funds for the Foundation’s work around the world.

Highlights included decorating and racing toy cars at the “Cars 2 Raceway” with celebrity hero Ashlee Simpson; decorating jeans with Judy Greer and Denise Richards at the “surfin’ safari” 77kids by American Eagle Denim Decorating Station; packaging special “Kits for Kids” to send to children in Africa with Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer at the Disney Friends for Change booth; and hanging out with Ashley Tisdale at kids’ social network imbee’s booth to watch online programs, play games, listen to music, and more.
In addition to fun and games, guests enjoyed an array of culinary creations from some of L.A.’s hottest eateries including Covell, Olive & Thyme, Along Came Mary, Toscana, and Drago.

Wrapping up the day, Jake Glaser, son of Elizabeth Glaser, introduced the performance for the afternoon – a concert by Radio Disney "N.B.T." Winner Kicking Daisies. The band rocked the young and old alike with their latest songs and fan favorites.
Thanks to the support of our donors and sponsors — including title sponsor Disney — this year's A Time for Heroes Celebrity Picnic raised $1.1 million to help the Foundation continue its efforts to eliminate pediatric AIDS.
