Photo of the Day: One Child at a Time

Globally, prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT)  of HIV programs were able to prevent 670,000 children from being born with HIV in 2012. In Tanzania,  the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) and its local affiliate Ariel Glaser Pediatric AIDS Healthcare Initiative (AGPAHI) support PMTCT services at 1,445 sites.

Since 2003, we’ve provided more than 2.9 million Tanzanian women with PMTCT services.

But there’s still work to be done. Each day 700 children are born with HIV. And until the day that no child is born with the virus, we will continue to working to bring about the end of pediatric HIV/AIDS in Tanzania and around the world.
