Each year, hundreds of young women and girls throughout Swaziland gather to participate in the annual Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony. The celebration begins in the villages, where girls cut down reeds and carry them on foot through the country to be delivered to the Queen Mother’s residence in Eludzidzini.

EGPAF has worked in Swaziland since 2004, partnering with the Kingdom of Swaziland to provide HIV testing, care, and treatment and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) services. To learn more about our efforts in Swaziland, click here.
