AGPAHI provides technical assistance to and acts as a capacity building partner to the Government of Tanzania, specifically to build the capacity of RHMTs, CHMTs and health facilities to improve and enhance HIV and AIDS related services. AGPAHI works to implement three HIV and AIDS related programs with generous funding support from PEPFAR through CDC and USAID.
The programs are
- Care and treatment for HIV and AIDS: The goal of the program is to increase access to and enrollment in a comprehensive package of sustainable, high quality, cost-effective care and treatment services for HIV-infected families.
- Linking Initiatives for the Elimination of Paediatric HIV (LIFE): The goal of the LIFE program is to increase the quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in the program’s focus regions in Tanzania, and to ensure a sustainable and locally-owned response.
- Innovations in Reproductive Health and Family Planning (IRHFP): IRHFP program aims at improving access and effective utilization of services for integrated family planning services.
- Family Planning Integration in CTC and VCT in Shinyanga Region: This program aims to support People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and the community in the Shinyanga Region to meet their family planning (FP) needs through the integration of FP services into existing HIV services.
