Grant Programs
Research has been a cornerstone of EGPAF's programs since 1988. Through its grant programs, EGPAF supports talented researchers around the world in their efforts to prevent, treat, and ultimately eliminate pediatric HIV and AIDS.
Grant programs conducted over the last two decades have included:
Elizabeth Glaser Scientist Awards
The Elizabeth Glaser Scientist Award (EGSA) is a five-year grant given to top scientists and clinicians in the field of HIV/AIDS research. Notable research activities supported by this award include:
- Identifying candidates for an effective and safe pediatric HIV vaccine;
- Understanding the immune response in children living with HIV; and
- Understanding the dynamics of HIV transmission during the breastfeeding period.
International Leadership Awards
The International Leadership Award (ILA) is a three-year grant focused on international investigations in PMTCT and HIV care and treatment. Recent awards were granted for research into:
- Improving the effectiveness of PMTCT services;
- Strengthening maternal and infant diagnosis of HIV; and
- Examining the impact of antiretroviral drugs on children.
