Today is the 23rd annual World AIDS Day. The Foundation is sponsoring or participating in events around the world, including in Nairobi, the east-African nation of Kenya's capital city.

Originally from Tanzania, Fortunata Kasege moved to the United States more than 13 years ago to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist. Pregnant at the time, she was not aware that she was living with HIV until she received an HIV test during a routine visit to the doctor.
Luckily, Fortunata had access to services to prevent the transmission of HIV to her unborn child. Today, she is raising her bright, beautiful, HIV-negative teenage daughter, Florida, and together they are advocating for families, women, and children affected by HIV around the world.

Tomorrow is the 23rd annual World AIDS Day and our Foundation Ambassadors are doing their part to get the word out. Earlier today, Jake Glaser, the twenty-six-year-old son of Elizabeth Glaser, appeared in a segment on CNN called "The Human Factor" where he spoke with CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
Tomorrow, Ben Banks, will sit down with the hosts of Let's Talk Live, a live and local talk show in Washington, D.C., airing for one hour beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Foundation is excited to announce that it is accepting Letters of Intent for its International Leadership Award (ILA), the 14th ILA to be given by the Foundation since 2002. This year, the award is supported through the generous funding of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. ILA recipients, selected through a competitive peer review process, are internationally-based scientists, physicians, and public health specialists who have the potential to develop pediatric HIV/AIDS programs, but lack the in-country resources – modern technologies and other tools – to implement such vital initiatives.
