To mark World AIDS Day, the Foundation hosted a packed briefing on Capitol Hill yesterday with the Global Health Council titled “Elimination of Pediatric AIDS: Creating a Generation Free of HIV.” Four experts spoke to the importance of scaling up prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services, best practices for implementation, and the challenges the global community is facing.

World AIDS Day is commemorated every year on December 1st. While we work hard all year round, this is a special opportunity to get the word out about this critical issue, let people know about our progress in eliminating pediatric AIDS, and how they can help.
The Foundation was prominently featured by outlets such as CNN, TIME Magazine, and Voice of America, and later today, our Vice President of Research will be featured on Fox News in a segment with Bono and President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush.

Today is the 23rd annual World AIDS Day. The Foundation is sponsoring or participating in events around the world, including in Nairobi, the east-African nation of Kenya's capital city.

Originally from Tanzania, Fortunata Kasege moved to the United States more than 13 years ago to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist. Pregnant at the time, she was not aware that she was living with HIV until she received an HIV test during a routine visit to the doctor.
Luckily, Fortunata had access to services to prevent the transmission of HIV to her unborn child. Today, she is raising her bright, beautiful, HIV-negative teenage daughter, Florida, and together they are advocating for families, women, and children affected by HIV around the world.
In recognition of World AIDS Day, Fortunata has shared her personal story of living with HIV and raising an HIV-negative child. Continue after the jump to read Fortunata's inspiring blog post about the importance of prevention, and her incredible gift to her daughter.

Tomorrow is the 23rd annual World AIDS Day and our Foundation Ambassadors are doing their part to get the word out. Earlier today, Jake Glaser, the twenty-six-year-old son of Elizabeth Glaser, appeared in a segment on CNN called "The Human Factor" where he spoke with CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
Tomorrow, Ben Banks, will sit down with the hosts of Let's Talk Live, a live and local talk show in Washington, D.C., airing for one hour beginning at 11:00 a.m.
