A Special Guest in the Washington, D.C. Office

We were lucky to have
Jake Glaser, son of Elizabeth and Paul Michael Glaser, stop by the Washington, D.C. office this week.
After being told more than 15 years ago that he would not live past the age of 10, Jake is today a strong and healthy 25-year old living with HIV.
He sat down with us on Tuesday, May 18, and talked for about an hour with a group of nearly 80 staff members assembled in our D.C. office and remotely in LA.
He spoke about his family, and how he, his mom, and sister Ariel were infected with HIV, a few of the early Foundation traditions, and the origins of our
logo.
He told us about the impact of seeing the
Foundation’s work in Africa first hand, and the sense of purpose he has talking to groups and sharing his story, especially with students at colleges and universities around the country.
And finally, he answered that burning question: “What is it like growing up as the son of Detective Dave Starsky of
Starsky & Hutch?”
