Toy Delivery for Kids Living with HIV

Earlier this year, we told you about preschoolers gathering toys to send to EGPAF-supported play centers in Zimbabwe. Our colleague Joanna Robinson and the preschoolers at Parachute Express Playschool in Victoria, British Columbia worked together to collect dozens of toys and school supplies for children living with HIV under the age of five who receive psychosocial care and support at these play centers. This past week, we got a note from Caroline Zinyemba, the Foundation's Communication & Advocacy Officer in Zimbabwe, with photos of the children and a special thank-you to their new friends in Canada:

On Monday 22nd October, we had the opportunity to be ambassadors of hope – thanks to Joanna Robinson, her children, Natalie Shoemaker of Parachute Express Playschool and all the children there who donated various toys and supplies received in August this year. The toys were given to Trinity Play Centre in Seke, Chitungwiza – a low income satellite town 30kms out of Harare. The centre provides play therapy and psychosocial support to some of the children whose parents have gone through the PMTCT programme. The children and teachers were very excited and appreciative for the toys and most of all for having new friends in North America!
