AIDS Alliance "Voices 2010"

May 17, 2010 - May 18, 2010

Washington, DC

AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth, and Families is a national nonprofit that represents women, children, youth, and families living with or affected by HIV and AIDS. The organization’s annual conference, Voices, brings together individuals affected by HIV/AIDS to discuss ongoing challenges and issues and advocate for increased support from policymakers and the public.

In recognition of the Foundation’s Ambassador Program, the Foundation was asked to lead a workshop focused on successfully advocating on behalf of HIV/AIDS-related causes. Directed at youth ages 17 to 25, the workshop “Youth Advocacy 101: Being an Effective Advocate for HIV/AIDS Causes” will feature Ambassadors Jake Glaser and Cristina Pena, who will use their own experiences to help illustrate the meaning of advocacy, different ways to advocate, and how to use one’s personal story in advocacy outreach.
