Recommendations for Reauthorization of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief

11/28/2007

As Congress prepares legislation to reauthorize the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), it faces crucial decisions about the program’s structure and emphasis — decisions with life-and-death implications for millions of people across the globe.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a major provider of PEPFAR-supported services to mothers and children, with vast experience in: working in PEPFAR’s target countries; collaborating with host governments and with in-country U.S. government agencies; and providing patient testing, care, and treatment.

The following policy recommendations represent the Foundation’s Children’s Agenda for PEPFAR. They provide a detailed blueprint for Congress to ensure that PEPFAR does all it can to protect children and families.
