Pamela W. Barnes Discusses Plan for Creating HIV-Free Generation at Center for Strategic and International Studies
1/14/2009
Washington, D.C.—On January 13, Foundation President and CEO Pamela W. Barnes spoke at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Global Health Policy Center about her vision for creating a generation free of HIV. Barnes’ speech focused on prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV, and a three- to five-year plan for bringing PMTCT to a national scale in key African settings.
“Children have been grossly neglected in the response to HIV,” Barnes said. “I’d like to challenge all of us to think bigger…We need to move beyond incremental increases in implementation of PMTCT.”
