Foundation Launches New HIV/AIDS Program Monitoring Data Warehouse

In September, the Foundation launched a new program monitoring data warehouse that will be used to collect, manage, and report on program results within the Foundation’s International Family AIDS Initiatives. GLASER, the Global AIDS System for Evaluation and Reporting, is a web-based system that will facilitate data analysis and information sharing globally, as well as across and within the 18 countries where the Foundation works.
In order to quickly build capacity within the Foundation to use GLASER, representatives from countries where the Foundation does not have an in-country presence traveled to the Washington, D.C., office for a three-day training session. Represented countries included Cameroon, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Malawi, and Russia.
Training included an overview of key concepts in program monitoring and evaluation, as well as an in-depth explanation and demonstration of the Foundation’s program monitoring tools and the GLASER system. Participants learned to manually enter data into GLASER, electronically upload data, and generate, interpret, and use the data reports that GLASER produces.
“The week of training was a unique opportunity that brought together individuals from six diverse country programs and promoted the sharing of experiences and knowledge,” said Director of Strategic Information and Evaluation Sara PacquĆ©-Margolis.
