Swimming to Reach the End of Pediatric AIDS

After he and his sister took part in Dance Marathon at UCLA – a popular annual fundraiser benefiting EGPAF – Adam Moine knew he wanted to do something big to help eliminate pediatric AIDS. He was inspired by hearing the stories of Elizabeth Glaser’s son Jake and other young people affected by HIV, and he knew that he could make a difference. After six months of strenuous training, Adam swam the 20-mile Catalina Channel in August 2012 without swim fins or a wetsuit – and raised over $5,000 for EGPAF. Finishing with a time of 9 hours, 14 minutes, and 11 seconds, Adam accomplished a feat fewer than 300 other people have ever completed.
