Inside an Ariel Camp in Rwanda: Fun, Friendship, and Positivity
In this gallery, EGPAF takes you to the most recent Ariel Camp in Rwanda, which took place during the second week in August 2011. It brought together 40 HIV-positive boys and girls from 10 health centers across Rwanda; 10 counselors and two members of the EGPAF staff also attended. The primary subjects taught at this year’s Ariel Camp were the proper way to take medication and reproductive health. When the time came to relax and enjoy each other’s company, everyone was invited to play games, tell stories, sing, dance, and eat favorite foods at a picnic. At the end of the week, the exciting closing ceremony saw campers planting memorial trees, sharing cake, and chatting around the evening’s campfire. As with so many other Ariel Camps across Africa, the event served to remind attendees that they are never alone – and that the fight against pediatric AIDS goes on stronger than ever before!
