Boston University Dance Marathon 2008
Boston, Massachussetts, 3/29/2008 — 3/30/2008
Description:
Now in its sixth year, Boston University Dance Marathon (BUDM) has established itself as the school’s largest annual philanthropic event. This year, marathon participants will stay on their feet from 3:00 p.m. on March 29 to 9:00 a.m. on March 30, at the university’s Sargent Gym.
Dance Marathon started at Boston University in 2003 as a collaborative effort of four organizations — the Inter Fraternity-Sorority Council/Pan-Hellenic Council, the Boston University Student Union, Students for Camp Heartland, and BUnited. BUDM strives to increase HIV/AIDS awareness and education on campus, promote a greater sense of community at BU, and raise a record-setting amount of money for pediatric AIDS.
The school’s highest-grossing fundraiser, BUDM raises thousands of dollars each year for both the Foundation and Camp Heartland, another pediatric AIDS charity. To date, BUDM has contributed over $100,000 to the Foundation.
While the group continues its fundraising efforts, some of its most hard-won successes have come through educating the Boston community about pediatric AIDS.
