Description:
The Ariel Children's Camp is a week-long camp in Uganda for children living with HIV, sponsored by the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The camp is named for Elizabeth Glaser’s daughter, Ariel, who passed away from AIDS-related illnesses in 1988. This year's Ariel Camp theme was "Living A Meaningful Life."
At the August 2008 camp, 35 children between the ages of 12 and 18 gathered at the Wild Life Centre in Entebbe, Uganda, to participate in soccer and volleyball games, field trips to the local zoo and airport, a chimpanzee study, and other fun activities. The children also shared stories about what it's like to grow up with HIV with others who are going through the same thing.
