Children enjoy the 2007 Ariel Children's Camp with Uganda Country Director Willie Salmond. |
Description:
The Ariel Children's Camp is a week-long camp in Uganda for children living with HIV, sponsored by the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The camp is named for Elizabeth Glaser’s daughter, Ariel, who passed away from AIDS-related illnesses in 1988. This year's Ariel Camp theme is "Living A Meaningful Life."
At the August 2008 camp, 35 children between the ages of 12 and 18 will gather at the Wild Life Centre in Entebbe, Uganda, to compete against each other in games such as soccer and volleyball, take a field trip to the local zoo and airport, conducting a chimpanzee study, and other fun activities. The children will also have the chance to talk about what it's like to grow up with HIV, sharing their experiences with others who are going through the same thing.
