Dr. Edward Bitarakwate is the country director for EGPAF in Uganda. Previous to his position leading EGPAF’s efforts in Uganda, Dr. Bitarakwate acted as the country program’s technical director, coordinating prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) services and HIV care and treatment expansion efforts. Prior to joining EGPAF, Dr. Bitarakwate worked in various capacities with the Uganda Ministry of Health, participating in the national scale-up of HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment services. Dr. Bitarakwate is a pediatrician and public health specialist by training, and has practiced clinical and community medicine since 1995. He received his master’s degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health.
