Shabbir Ismail, MD, MPH
Senior Director, Strategic Information and Evaluation
Dr. Shabbir Ismail oversees program monitoring, evaluation, and data use at EGPAF, managing the development and operations of the organization’s data systems and policies. As senior director, Dr. Ismail ensures that data collected from program sites is of optimal quality and accurately reflects the Foundation’s work around the world. Prior to joining EGPAF, Dr. Ismail led Harvard University’s Tanzania HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment Program as the assistant country director, where he provided technical oversight to the provision of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services at more than 50 health facilities in Dar es Salaam. Prior to his tenure with Harvard, Dr. Ismail held multiple roles at the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) office in Ethiopia, most recently as Head of the Strategic Information Branch. Dr. Ismail holds a degree in medicine and a master’s degree in public health from Addis Ababa University.
