Godfrey Woelk

Godfrey Woelk possesses a broad range of research experience focused on the prevention and mitigation of HIV/AIDS; maternal and child health; hypertensive diseases of pregnancy; and health systems research. He has been very involved in community-based HIV and sexually transmitted disease prevention trials, facilitating more pragmatic trials in healthcare research; and examining the barriers and facilitators to the uptake of findings from randomized trials and systematic reviews into policy. Prior to joining EGPAF, Woelk worked at RTI International as a senior research epidemiologist in RTI’s Statistics and Epidemiology Unit, and served on projects in Burundi, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Earlier, he was a professor of epidemiology and former chair of the Department of Community Medicine at the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences.
