EGPAF to Recognize Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi at June 24th Event

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) will honor House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi for her longstanding commitment to an AIDS-free future at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

Democratic Leader Pelosi has been a tireless advocate for people living with HIV/AIDS since her earliest days in office.  Domestically, her efforts lead to the creation of the Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS program. Globally, her consistent support of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has helped the transformative program reach a major milestone—more than 1 million HIV-free babies have been born thanks to PEPFAR-supported programs.

In recognition of her continued commitment to children living with HIV, EGPAF’s President and CEO, Charles Lyons, will present Democratic Leader Pelosi with the Congressional Global Champion Award during its 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Please join us as we reflect on 25 years of progress and look toward a future where no child has AIDS.

The celebration will be held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. at  6:30 p.m. The event will be hosted by WJLA anchor Alison Starling and feature performances from the percussive dance group, Step Afrika!
